Disciplines related to CALL

What are the disciplines related to CALL?

-Programmed Learning
Emerges in the 1950s as a linear application of Skinner's behaviorist theories. This discipline is found at the base of CALL. Skinner proposed the use of teaching machines for the ease it brought to learning. (Levy, 1997a).

-Computational Linguistics & Automated Translation
Both constitute another set of two closely related areas, which by themselves also anticipated and defended CALL (Ahmad et al., 1985). On the other hand, these two areas are at the same time connected with another one of the disciplines which has an impact that is starded to become reflected in CALL, Artificial Inteligence.

-Educational Technology & Instructive Design
These must be absolutely considered when we are creatin materials for CALL, and more concretely for the instructive use on the Web.

-Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
Another discipline which is starded to get considered in relation to CALL. Its objective is to study how the exchange of information between people and machines, is more efficient, making sure to understand the user's necessities.

-Applied Linguistics & Theories on Acquisition of a Second Language.
These have notably infuenced and have lots to offer in the development and research of CALL. That's because of the importance given to this relation between Second Language Acquisiton and CALL.
